Shade lights provide great task lighting for over a sink or island.  If your island is large enough, you might want to have two or three shade lights to illuminate your whole work space.

 

Here is a great tip - use a clear bulb in our punched tin lights so that the beautiful piercing pattern is splashed onto the walls and ceiling.  You may use a spot bulb or a traditional frosted bulb, but the results will not be the same.
