Primitive Home Decor Inspiration From Renae Fyffe Jackson

Welcome to our new series in our Primitive Home Decor Notebook - Finding inspiration from primitive enthusiasts just like you. Today we are taking a peek at the home of Renae Fyffe Jackson, who posts on some social media groups where she shares her fabulous home and unique design approach. Her home is filled with all things primitive including hand made furniture pieces with muted painting techniques which make them look like antiques. She features collections that show her taste for redware, primitive signs, and beautiful textiles. The living room utilizes a beautiful cupboard for storage and I am wondering if Renae even has a television behind those doors! The antique chest displays her seasonal collections, in this case, it looks like her home is decorated for Fall.
In the dining room, Renae shows off some Shaker wood boxes which are such a fun thing to collect! Made in the early 1800's in the Shaker community, these boxes were small storage boxes that held different small goods depending on which room they were being used. The Shakers believed that all work was an act of devotion. Every chore, no matter how simple, was done with the intent: "Hands to work, hearts to God." She also displays a great collection of firkins of all different sizes. A firkin is a small wooden bucket or barrel, usually lidded and with a handle, originally used for storing liquid or dry goods like beer or sugar. The name originated from the Dutch word “vierdikikijn” which translates to fourth because a firkin was initially sized to be one-quarter of a barrel. Renae's antique scale and coffee grinders are my favorites! I love all types of antique gadgets and tools.
